Every year the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse organises a prize-giving ceremony for the best thesises conducted within the School's Research laboratories. Among the selected number of about 100 thesises, about 15% are awarded the Leopold Escande prize.
This prize is awarded on the basis of such criteria as originality, concrete contribution to the specific scientific field in question, and also socio-economic repercussions.
